Located in the Gaeltach (Irish Speaking) area of South West Donegal,the village of Carrick sits at the foot of Slieve League.

The Slieve League cliffs are said to be the highest and one of the finest marine cliffs in Europe with a staggering 2000 feet drop straight down into the wild, Atlantic waves below.

Sliabh Liag, or Grey Mountain, is better known by its anglicized name of Slieve League. The cliffs on its seaward side are called 'Bunglas', and are reputed to be the highest sea-cliffs in Europe reaching anywhere from 300-600m (roughly 1000-2000 feet) from sea-level. This creates a breathtaking view.

The river Glen, renowned for Salmon and Trout flows through here and into the sea at Teelin bay.

Nearby to the east is Ireland's premier fishing port of Killybegs and to the west the village of Glencolmcille.

Colm Cille and his followers lived in the valley and the ruins of several of their churches can still be seen there.

Following a dispute with the church about the right to copy religious manuscripts, Colm Cille went into exile on the isle of Iona of the west coast of Scotland.

There are a great selection of pubs, restaurants and shops at your doorstep.

The famous and delicious ‘Kitty Kelly’s’ restaurant is a 8 minute drive from the house.

In nearby Kilcar the food of Teach Barnai is highly recommended.

For family dining the Clock Tower and Blue Haven are just the right spots with good food and great views from both. These restaurants reside on the road to Killybegs and are an 8 minute drive from the house.
